Reykjavik, Iceland

From relaxing in the blue lagoon to experiencing the local cuisine, Iceland seems to have something to offer everyone. Soak up a 360 view of the city from the top of the Hallegrimskirkja Church or visit the Icelandic Phallological Museum for a slightly different science lesson. Along with regular sightings of the Northern lights, you’re sure not to be disappointed.

Paris, France

One of the most romantic place to visit, Paris is exquisite at christmas time. Brouse the christmas markets that line the Jardin du Trocadero, whilst being in the shadow of the eiffel tower and tuck into some hot roasted chestnuts aka ‘chaud les marrons’.  Make sure you take a visit to the Galleries Lafayette to wonder at their jaw-dropping christmas tree.

London, England

London’s christmas lights are always dazzling, and this year is no different. In the day, wander around covent garden and maybe warm up with some traditional pie and mash from Battersea pie. While your here make sure you visit Winter Wonderland in Hype Park, with German beer, ice skating and even an ice bar to keep you entertained all evening.

Bergen, Norway

Fancy somewhere more rural? Head to Bergen, Norways second largest city which is an excellent starting point to discover the country’s fjords. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bryggen, a series of old, wooden buildings that line the harbour. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous then take the funicular railway or hike up Mount Floyen for views over this quaint city. From here, you can also take a boat tour out onto the fjords and experience a little bit more of the country.

Munich, Germany

For a traditional German Christmas market with roots that go back to the 14th century,  where better to head than Munich? There are around 20 Christmas Markets located throughout the city of Munich, with the main one located on the Marienplatz in the heart of the city. Peruse the traditional Bavarian christmas gifts, from wood carvings to gingerbread, or enjoy some festive tunes from the balcony of Munich’s town hall.
