A Literary Journey…

Categories Uncategorized

So, this post isn’t actually about me travelling anywhere physically, but I got a delivery of some new books today and i’m very excited about reading them. My favourite thing about the summer holidays is that I get to read whatever I want whenever I want and not have to feel guilty about it as I should probably be reading something of historical significance.

Perhaps the only thing I miss about college is doing English Literature and using it as an excuse to read the books that I had heard amazing things about. Reading poetry and listening to all the different analyses that could be taken from a single stanza.

Don’t you just love it when you start reading a good book and all you want to do is carry on reading until the end? When the characters seem to speak to you and you are fully immersed in this fantasy world created by a talented author. For a while you are completely taken away from reality and you can forget your own worries and become invested in this other life.

The first book I am going to read from my new bounty is entitled ‘Reasons to Stay Alive’ by Matt Haig. This is a true story of how the author ‘triumphed over a mental illness that almost destroyed him…’ as the blurb explains and I am gripped already, as I already had a little read before I went to bed last night. I will try and keep you all updated on how I found it after I finish. The other books I recieved in my parcel were as follows:

  • The Reader on the 6.27 – Jean-Paul Didierlaurent
  • Sharp Objects – Gillian Flynn
  • The Last Act Of Love – Cathy Rentzenbrink
  • Me Before You – Jojo Moyes

I find my escape in books, and although this may not be a real life trip to somewhere new, I really think in this day and age that books are seriously underrated. So this is my little homage to books and bookworms everywhere, and if there are any books that you recommend then please let me know!
